FAQs

1. What do I need to bring? We suggest you wear your swimsuit and bring a beach towels, sunscreen, hat, sunglasses, camera (underwater and/or digital) and a light jacket or cover-up.

Underwater Hug 2. Do you have bathrooms or showers on board? Yes, we have separate men’s and women’s air conditioned restrooms and an outdoor fresh hot water shower.

3. Is there any shade on your boats? The Big Kahuna has plenty of large shaded areas to relax in while still enjoying the beautiful scenery.

fish 4. Is your crew trained in first aid and emergency response? Yes, all of our Captains and Crew take regularly scheduled lifeguard, 1st aid and emergency response courses throughout the year. There will always be a crew member in the water performing water safety while anyone is in the water.

5. Can we go ashore during our cruise? No, in order to protect the sensitive coral reefs, marine shoreline and the safety of our guests, no one is allowed to climb onto land. Each vessel will act as your private island allowing you to come and go as you please while you enjoy your day at sea.

6. What if I’ve never snorkeled before? We recommend the Big Kahuna for all people who are new to snorkeling. Our snorkeling destinations offer calm ocean conditions all year around. The Big Kahuna conducts a snorkel class on-board the boat for anyone who is interested or just needs a quick refresher course before entering the water.

7. What if I don’t swim or am uncomfortable in the water? We host many non-swimmers who want to join their family and friends on our cruises. For anyone who doesn’t know how to swim or is uncomfortable in the water we offer an array of flotation devices such as noodles, swim belts and swim vests to assist you while in the water. We will also have a water safety person in the water at all times.

underwater 8. Will we see whales? The best opportunity to see whales is between late December and late March when the Humpback Whales migrate to Hawaii from the Alaskan waters. During that time of year, we offer daily Whale Watching cruises. There are several other species of whales that live in Hawaiian waters year around and are occasionally seen during one of our cruises.

9. Will we see dolphins? There is a very good chance of seeing dolphins all year around. The most common species are the Hawaiian Spinner dolphins who go off shore at night to hunt but spend their days resting and reproducing in the shallow water and bays near shore. When it comes to marine life there are no guarantees but we generally encounter dolphins on more than half of our cruises.
